Adolescent Outpatient Therapy
Thursday
4 PM to 5:30 PM
The Adolescent Outpatient Program emphasizes cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), which is founded on the principle that our thoughts influence our behaviors and shape our perceptions of the environment. This program is designed to help adolescents change maladaptive behaviors by modifying their thought processes, even if their external circumstances remain unchanged. Specifically focused on adolescent substance use, the program guides participants in developing self-regulation and coping skills. They learn to identify the cues that precede drug use, utilize various strategies to avoid triggering situations, and enhance their communication and problem-solving abilities. This approach promotes healthier decision-making and builds resilience in confronting challenges.
Adolescent SUD Therapy Considerations
I uphold the principle that effective treatment must comprehensively address every facet of adolescent life. Each client's treatment plan is meticulously developed based on a thorough diagnosis and assessment of their medical and mental health histories, family background, any history of substance use, and an evaluation of academic and social circumstances. When necessary, I may facilitate referrals for specialized assessments and evaluation to enhance diagnostic accuracy and identify conditions that could negatively affect executive functioning and academic performance. Recognizing and addressing previously undiagnosed cognitive health issues is essential, as these conditions can contribute to anxiety and depression while hindering academic achievement. The identification and treatment of these issues alleviate obstacles to improved mental health and reduce substance use disorders.
